 TAC 101 (formerly known as New TAC) Training

This  TAC 101 training class is designed to help all TACs/ALT TACs, both new and those seeking a refresher and updates, to know and understand the basic responsibilities of being a TAC. Topics include user training and testing, the life cycle of a user, user management, and agency responsibilities.

The next  TAC 101 Training has not yet been announced. Please check back or contact your Field Services Representative. 

UCJIS Inquiry Training

This UCJIS Baseline training will cover how to “inquire” into UCJIS. UCJIS transactions that will be covered include DLQ, UCH, III, NCIC, QSW, MIL, and more. The training class is open to all UCJIS users who would like training on how to inquire into the different files available in the UCJIS system.

UCJIS Inquiry 12/4/24

UCJIS Entry Training

This UCJIS Baseline training will cover how to “enter” into NCIC using UCJIS. UCJIS transactions that will be covered include how to enter articles, guns, missing persons, and clear, cancel, and locate NCIC entries. This training class is open to all UCJIS users who would like training on how to enter data into NCIC using the UCJIS system.

NCIC Entry 12/12/24

NIBRS Basic Training

This class will be for those individuals at law enforcement agencies that submit information to the State Uniform Crime Reporting Program using the National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS). It covers NIBRS offenses, definitions, and the data elements and values captured within the data collection.

1st Quarter Virtual Training (Formerly known as Region Training)

BCI Field Services held virtual 1st quarter training during February 2024. This training was formerly known as “regional training” but has been renamed to fit the new virtual environment. All UCJIS users were invited to participate. The topics included in the training are listed below with a description found there and in the registration form(s).

2024 Virtual 1st Quarter Training Topics:

UCJIS Updates: This will cover new transactions and updates to UCJIS.
UCJIS Trivia: In this class, we will be utilizing a game app to quiz your UCJIS knowledge! From the basics to NCIC, Nlets, and III. Come test your knowledge and/or learn something new.
Misuse: This training will cover some types of misuse BCI is seeing lately and important reminders about proper dissemination.
Warrants: This training will be dedicated to the subject of warrants. We will cover different types of warrants and how they affect different agency types. Other topics of discussion will include validating warrants, locates, and retention periods.
Offline Searches, Dissemination Log Requests, Retention Periods: This training will cover NCIC offline searches, how they can be used as an investigative tool including examples of requests for an offline search and retention periods pertaining to NCIC offline searches.
Missing Persons/Utah Alerts: An overview of the different Utah alerts and when it is appropriate to use each type.
NIBRS: This training will cover some commonly asked questions BCI receives in regards to NIBRS reporting and classification.
